Very nice shot! I have not seen a consist like that in passenger service. Is this two separate trains from different originating stations combined en route to a common final destination? An effort in fuel conservation? Very interesting, great capture.

Anthony, J-trains, in this case eastbounds, are usually trains made up at Toronto TMC as trains bound for Montréal and Ottawa combined. Once a train reaches Brockville, the train's sections are split, and one consist heads north to Ottawa while the other consist east for Montréal.

Nice photo! I'm curious what time this photo was taken. I am quite interested to catch trains like this one being shunted from the TMC to Union prior to their scheduled run.
