Thanks for sharing Joe! These locomotives appear to be some sort of narrow gauge variation on an SD7/SD9. The general body shape looks similar, but the lack of any hood, and the frame skirt gives it a distinct look, from that of any other locomotive. Looking at this, and other pictures you've posted of these "'NF-210" units, they look almost like some type of model train locomotive.

Well, these are unusual locomotives. they were built specifically for Newfoundland service by GMD. They do not have a center sill as do most locomotive, but rather heavy side frames. They have C-C trucks, which are hard to see given the locomotive's design. Many of these NF-210s are still in service on the FCAB in northern Chile. I have photographed them there as well, and I am sure there are a number of photos on this site showing them at work on the FCAB.
