Sadly, not to ruin the fun, but if you look really hard you can see that 8444 has a diesel tucked in behind. Either way, great photo and great steam. Iv'e only seen videos. What it must of been like to be there!

Great shot John! As I recall 4449 went lame shortly after this. Or was it 8444?

Thanks Dennis, 4449 stopped a short distance past tunnel #2 while 8444 continued east over the summit. I believe it had an overheated bearing, and it was interesting watching the crew repair it.

You won't see the tunnel there anymore and the road in the foreground and that grade crossing are all gone too.
