Nice historic shot of a line that I wish I had seen during that period. Also, there appears to be a rather large dog on that pickup truck...a bone for Mitch!

Now there's something that hasn't happened in a while! Thanks for posting, Steve. I've actually been to that spot within the last couple of years and I recall thinking it might be a good spot to catch a morning northbound...if the trains ever come back to Whitehorse. The rails are still there, and look pretty good considering how long they've been idle. BTW, I believe the Whitehorse Airport, into which I flew, is right at the top of the bluff behind the train in your photo.

Even though WP&Y hasn't run to Whitehorse for many years, the depot there is in excellent condition and a short stretch of track around the station is used for some kind of shuttle train. The line between Carcross and Whitehorse was never removed and there was talk when we were in the Yukon two years ago of restoring freight service to serve some mines near Whitehorse.
