I think that this shot is east of MO yard, but then, where is PA53? Then, I moved west, and where the Ice Cream Cabin/caboose now is near old US22, the Peary Highway, but where are the platforms for Cresson and the flyover off the Black Lick? Hmmm. This has to be west of the main, which runs almost north/south through Cresson. So, the house is on Front Street, the train is climbing the west slope, so they will be getting an SD40/45 for help, if they haven't already tied on. This sort of thing can be fun.

As (I believe) the famous quote goes "These were the Best of times, These were the Worst of times." Somehow railfanning was just MORE FUN then. THANKS for sharing, Commander.

There are a few clues to this delightful photo's location: At this time sections of PRR's four-track mainline had been reduced to three tracks with removal of the westward freight track (No.3). These segments were interspersed between Duncannon and Tunnel (near Spruce Creek). We have a lengthy tangent, a signal bridge in the distance and an overpass beyond that. I submit the 6505 is westbound at Barree with one of the few remaining signal bridges (MP 211) and the PA Route 305 overpass along the Barree straightline, with Warrior Ridge in the distance. Ah, for the activity that once prevailed along that stretch of railroad.

I know I'm a little late to this picture, but, definitely the Barree crossing and not Cresson. Taken quire a few pictures from there.
