They must have ballast tanks on board to shift weight from side to side as needed
Makes one wonder how bad the track would have to get before the FRA would shut them down. Nice catch Wyatt.

I wonder how much worse it can get before they can’t operate?
It's been like this for years.

"Poorly maintained" infers they, in fact, maintain that track. I doubt they ever have. It's a shame. I don't see how a railroader with any sense of pride on their job could work here.
Joe, most of the guys on the MAW are awesome. They do what they have to do to get the job done. It's not their fault the operation is messed up.
They need a roll cage in the locomotive.
How in the name of heaven did you not get rejected for "horizon not level"?
Does the term "Hazardous Duty Pay" ring a bell?

I remember operating over branch line tracks like this when Conrail first took over. They didn't stay that way long, either repaired or abandoned.
All I can say is, "lean to the right".
I see they found the number board and found another use for duct tape.
Wait...I think I saw that scene before....except it was a derailment photo!
"Whew", and here I thought there was some dodgey / bad trackwork in South Africa. Awesome photo Wyatt.
