The press release that I read, released by Cliffs themselves, stated that 2 of Northshore Mining's 4 production lines will be idled on Jan 5, 2013 until demand increases. I saw no mention of shtting down the mine or the pellet production entirely for 2013. The same press release also stated that the Empire mine in Michigan would be idled in the 2nd quarter of 2013 for an "extended summer shutdown", but it did not say the closure was for good, only until demand increases.
