Very Nice shot. I HAVE TO WONDER about what appears to be a cut-stone bridge abutment over toward the right hand side of the photo. Was that originally for the bridge the photo is taken from or a different line altogether. It would have to have been for a really high bridge or trestle when originally built. Or, perhaps like many thing built in the late 19th Century, partially constructed, then never actually used.

One of my favorite spots! The LV units are operating on the D&H and will soon cross over a bridge over the LV Mountain Cut-off line and then, thanks to a recently added connector track, will head back to home rails. The pic was taken from the Route 11 highway bridge. The abutment on the hillside was built for the double tracked, third-rail electrified Laurel Line which ran from Scranton to Wilkes-Barre and crossed here on a high trestle. This spot one made Ripley's "Believe it or not".
