Did you need to sprint to catch this image of the train you captured a couple of minutes earlier and a bit further down the hill?! By the way, where does the train symbol information come from, is that from scanners?

Paul, there was at least an hour, maybe two between this shot and the one at CP Walker. The upper part of the Cajon Pass (Walker to Summit) is a hard place to "chase" a train because there is usually a decent amount of traffic on Highway 138, and because most of these photo spots require a drive down a rutted dirt road and then a short hike through the bush. The spot above took me about 10 minutes to hike to from the road and I would only do it in the Winter when the snakes are hibernating. As for the train symbols, most of the people I know that post this information on their photos are either railroad employees, or have a friend that will provide them with a list of BNSF and/or UP trains coming in and out of Los Angeles for any given day. If you have the list, all that is required is to match the origin/destination information to the number on the lead engine in your photo.

Many thanks for the info!
