Dual control former N&W GP9s are now an endangered species. These locomotives have outlived many of the more recent EMD products.

Imagine being trackside when these five beauties were in notch 8, they'd sound heavenly!

I'm old enough to remember GP9s and other EMD products along with Alcos on the N&W. I remember as a youth visiting relatives in Christiansburg and hearing trains ten miles away coming up the mountain, and it was glorious.
