Wow.. I was surprised to see this photo. There are no comments, so let me add some. This is a scrap yard on Burnham Ave. just north of the South Shore RR line and on the southern edge of Chicago. I used to check this site in the ‘60s to see if they were scrapping any steam engines. This facility used to be called the Hyman-Michaels Company which since has become the Azcon Corporation. I am not sure if there are operations here today or what it is called. If you love reading about industrial/railroad history, I recommend you Google “History of Azcon Corporation.” The history accounts go back to Civil War RR dealings, WWI & II involvement as well as removing the "golden spike" and dismantling track at the Promontory, Utah famous site.
