David, thanks so much for this one. I Rode this line in 1970 when I was between jpbs at Lockeed-Georgia and SOU. We left Jacksonville one and a half hours late account an air conditioning failure on the dining car. We went into Columbia on time. I timed us between MP'S and won't say what the readings were. I asked the conductor, "How fast do you run down here?". He replied, "We run as fast as the wheels will turn."
