Graham, you have produced a rather melancholy image of an unfolding tragedy. With emphasis on the word STILL undergoing overhaul, 'Scotsman' is seemingly no nearer completion. Including the purchase price, some £5 million has been spent (thus far) in a vain and deeply flawed attempt to return the locomotive to running order. If the NRM had used the original A1/A3 drawings, a BRAND NEW locomotive could have been built probably with a hefty saving in both money and resources. Needless to say the work should have been contracted out to industry with the proper clauses and contracts to protect OUR tax money! 'Nuff said.
