#614 was built Feb. 1949 for the SP&S as their # 858. With the coming of the Burlington Northern merger, it was scheduled to become BN #4104 and was acquired by the LIRR 3/7/73 from the "trade-in lot" at GE. GE, North Bergen, NJ did the "Power-Cab" conversion work, removing the traction motors, de-rating the prime mover and much other work. The ALCO prime mover was removed and replaced with a Detroit Diesel "genset" in Feb. 83. Please credit info to John Scala.
