Great memories here! Thanks for adding this George. I don't remember what year it was (mid-80's for sure), but I met the nice (not sure what his title was...station agent or tower operator or ?). Got to go see inside the depot and tower. The track on the right had just been removed and i assume the tower was a short time later. I ran into him some time later when i unknowingly parked by his house in La Crosse next to the C&O after he had retired. The depot is still in Knox but was moved next to the ex-NYC right-of-way a short drive further down SR 35. I think it is owned by a historical society. Looks like no one was in the tower on the day of this photo since the crossing signals were, by the looks of it, not activated.

Glad you enjoyed the photo Pete, and thanks for the interesting and informative comment. The crossing flasher lights were definitely operating but for some unknown reason it's not visible in the picture, and I distinctly remember talking with the girl working in the tower that day prior to the train arriving. It's not very clear but that's her silhouette in the window. I have several more photos of the tower, the train, and the girl but so far two have been rejected. Thanks again for the fave Pete.

Awesome catch. Look at all that detail. The tower, the right-of-way, the vintage vehicles, the Sears store sign, the crew member in the cab, someone sitting in the depot. Nice.
