This is wrong to allow this engine to sit and rust away. It should have been sent to a mill of somesort to be cut up, melted, and the metal reused for the building of a school or a hospital. That would have been a much more dignified thing to do than just lettting it rust away like this. That would be a way of putting one of Hitler's creations to a good use after it's locomotive days were done.

I'm surprised it survived the war. Allied fighter-bombers relentlessly hunted down moving trains in the final phases of the war.

Not all of the more than 7000 (!) units were fatally hit by bombs... And add to this, after the Nazi-regime had left burnt soil in entire europe, all usable engines were needed. France for examples ordered 17 units after the war to use them for their freights.

This locomotive does not have an ideology, and is as worthy of preservation as any other surviving steamer.
