Maybe GE should take a few and see if a GEVO prime mover will fit and run.

I was present many years ago when the 811 and seven sister locos departed the GE plant in Erie, PA, behind a Conrail C40-8 One of the 'sisters' was #815....the lead engine on that fateful night in 1993 when the Sunset Limited hit a displaced bridge in the bayou west of Mobile, Alabama. It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since this locomotive began her career on the railroad.

Actually, Amtrak 819 was in the 1993 wreck, not Amtrak 815.

These units are currently being rebuilt at Beech Grove along with Amtrak 403, 405 and 407.
