To respond to "anonymous" that posted on July 26th, 2013: IF these elephants or ANY of the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus animals were "mistreated" as you say, they would look unhealthy, they would not perform properly during a public show, and they would behave in an aggressive manner all the time. The RBB&B folks treat ALL the animals with LOVE, respect, care, and are VERY protective of them. If the animals were mistreated, they wouldn't have a show to present to the public and they'd be shut down immediately for cruelty to animals. The animals are cared for better than some parents treat their own children. And another thing, "Jungle" Jack Hanna, a world respected Zoologist with the World known Columbus (Ohio) Zoological Gardens and Aquarium has personally vouched for the RBB&B as being one of the BEST at how they treat and care for their animals - ALL of them! No other circus transports their animals by train do they? Those carriers are climate controlled to keep the animals comfortable no matter the temperature outside. Don't go disrespecting the RBB&B about "mistreatment" of animals, they wouldn't make money if the animals were mistreated.

That's the good news that Ringling stops their elephant shows by 2018, but even so, PETA wanted Ringling to stop using the elephants for their shows immediately. The bigger question is, shouldn't Ringling stop using other animals like lions, tigers, zebras, and horses on their shows as well?

Dana M, this is not what a healthy elephant looks like...
