Wouldnt it just be easier to replace it with a GP40-2 or something similar than spend big bucks on trying to turn a puddle-jumper into a grunter? I bet it lights the tyres pretty easy now?

Modern ALco C415. Epic failure. At least this one has air conditioning. Don't expect any repeats. If you're going to go this far, where's the dynamic brakes? Museum piece already.

Andrew Hamblyn it depends on the way you look at the cost. If for example you compare how much purchasing a new GP unit is, with how much it costs to rebuild older MP units such as the MP15DC, it actually works out that the price they would have to pay for one new GP unit, is roughly equivalent to the cost it takes them to rebuild three of the MP15's into this type of engine.
