Gauntlet rail lasts the longest.... just a few weeks ago I photographed rail from 1882 in use gauntlet track on a bridge on an ex-CP branch in Quebec (the Stanbridge Sub) which was in use as part of the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway until a few months ago when Transport Canada basically condemned the whole line.

Wow no tie plates either, surprised it is still there with the high price of scrap steel.

In my work, I've never once seen tie plates used with Jordan rails.
