Balance sheets says Espee, but the consist is solid Gold. Grande Gold, that is!
This is a study in contrast in the two locos: on the lead SD40T-2, you can hardly see the Aspen Gold stripes in the nose and the Gold sill is all but hidden under much grime. The trailing SD45, several years senior to the leader, has a surprisingly clean sill. Both units' cab side numbers are grimy, yet the stacked heralds on the flanks of the long hoods are bright and relatively clean.
