Am too lazy to go dig out book right now, so might wind up being shown incorrect; but want to remember that Cleveland originally used this pattern in two tone green but clolrs were changed to this yellow and orange after green cars blended in to background too much.

The Cleveland car is one of my favorites in The City.

Finally did go look in book. Page 72 of PCC from Coast to Coast, by Schneider and Carlson. Photo caption states the 2 tone green scheme was designed by Raymond Loewy (gee, where have we heard that name?) and was used on some Peter Witt cars numbered in 4000 series. Caption mentions that livery was short lived, which has me thinking it might have not ever been on the PCC cars given what a photo caption on page 76 says about the scheme being evolved from the Loewy livery but with colors changed to prevent, as authors call it, camouflaging on tree lined streets.
