Only one word comes to mind when looking at this photo: "WOW!" A tractor-trailer tried to beat the train, and it hits the SECOND locomotive? That driver was lucky not to get injured, though the resulting ticket by law enforcement and possibly loss of his job will hurt him just as badly. Still: "WOW!"

Dana - The first unit hit the truck/trailer but the second unit sustained the most damage. I work about a block and a half away from where the accident took place and was able to get some photos of the actual crash scene with my iPhone. WJAC TV out of Johnstown covered the story. Look them up online and you can see video from the actual crash.

It's amazing that there doesn't appear to be a lot of damage to the lower portion of the truck and fuel tank!

You can repair an engine, but you can't fix stupid.
|
Ouch! I hope they replace this, and don't scrap the ole' girl!
|
They won't scrap her, the cab will either be rebuilt or replaced
|
At least it didn't hit the former GP30 up front

Total agree Sean, cant fix stupid. people just don't know the strength and power of trains. Experience will teach those people, YOU WONT BEAT THE TRAIN!! (unfortunately).

Based on the news story, it looks as though the truck jackknifed when it was it. The trailer swung around and struck this unit.
