Nice! Was this car preserved?

Readers of Model Railroader might remember the car the late John Allen built for fun. It also was a 40' Boxcar and had a metal ball on a slightly concave surface and if a switching move was performed to hard, the ball would fall off the end and connect with a metal strip. That connection would make a light under the car light up as if the car had a "Hot Box". Cute idea.
