Posted by Robert Olson on July 6, 2014  On November 3, 1981 ( 11 days prior to this photo) Kaiser Steel announced the phasing out of half the Fontana Mill and the closure of the entire Eagle Mountain Mine. all due to increased environmental concerns at the Fontana Mill and stiff foreign competition for steel.
