I'm sure having a hard time placing a train of this size in scenery like this in Washington State! I like the photo though.

Judging by all the sleeping cars, this must be a special run, perhaps for officers of the railroad, directors and/or analysts. If this is Washington State, this probably is the Hinkle-Spokane line or one of the branches that connected with it.

Many of those cars are business cars--look at all the open platforms back there. This is clearly an OCS.

This was a UP inspection special on the Western Pacific in March 1980. Executives from UP were inspecting the WP in anticipation of the merger.
