A few DD40Xs remain but to my knowledge no high hood, early U25Bs do. Please correct if i'm wrong.....

An answer to Pete Greischar's comment: According to a photo by Greg McDonnell in his book U-Boats, as of 1991 there was still a U25B high-hood prototype, number 752, at GE's Erie plant. Of course a lot of things could have happened in the last 23 years, but lets hope that GE understood the historic value in that unit and has saved it. I have not heard nor seen anything else about that unit other than that picture and caption in that book which is now itself 20 years old.

You asked to be corrected....only one DD exists in operation, the UP 6936. I can't even think of a place you'd find a high hood u25b, not even on former NW or SOU...

I was thinking total units (operable and non-operable). There is one on display on the UP at N. Little Rock (6938), one at the Illinois Railway Museum (6936), as well as one (6925) on the Dakota Southern which is used for parts. Anyway, hopefully GE has kept that high hood U25B since it was their first offering into the US locomotive market.

Notice the radio pack the Brakeman on the ground has hanging from his shoulder....they were called Motorola lunch box radios on the Milwaukee Road.
