This new alignment is actually closer to the original CoG alignment that once ran through Claxton. Sometime in the 60's, the old station which occupied the parking lot on the right side, just in front of the stop light, was torn down. The alignment was actually moved some to the left, occupying what had been the passing track through town, while the old main was pulled up. Now, the alignment pretty much follows the old main line alignment.
