Awesome! I've camped inside Tehachipi Loop, Williams Loop and at Sullivan's Curve in the very early 90's as a kid, but never made it here. This picture fills me full of awe and regret. I camped MANY times inside the horseshoe curve just outside of Truckee in Donner Pass, which is the complete opposite of this scene. You could hear the trains coming out of Truckee grinding in run 8, or hear the dynamics whining coming the other way well in advance of seeing them. Of course we never slept well, because we would get woke up about once an hour all night long. I always had to get out of my sleeping bag to watch them. Back then, SP's Tunnel Motors and SD45s ruled on every train, with GP-35's, 40's and GP/SD-9's thrown in for "shock and awe" effect and more often than not running and on line. Sad to miss this one though. Thanks for sharing.
