According to UTA, the S line was specially built so that if the line were extended, or demand required it, the line could be easily double tracked. Because of this, in some locations, the stations are oriented to allow a train on either side. This is particularly visible at the State street crossing where there are two crossing tracks in place, but only one is in use. Also the station in the middle of the short (never open) road coming off of state is built as a central island platform.
