From the description that these cars operate on a cable system street running funicular, may I inquire as to the purpose for the overhead trolley poles? I'm curious to know if somewhere this car disconnects from the funicular cable and transfers to overhead power as indicated by the poles that it can / has operated as a trolley under overhead wire.

Prior to the introduction of radio control in the 1990’s, the trolley poles were used to maintain a telegraph link with the control unit at the halfway winding house.
