Why are the pantographs located on the side of the train?
|
These trains are built for 1200 V DC (line S 10 Zürich HB to the Uetliberg) as well as for 15000 V 16,7 Hz AC (line Zürich HB to Sihlbrugg, Sihltalbahn). The SZU got 6 of this new trains. Because parts of the SZU lines are used for both, AC and DC, the pantograhps are at side of the trains for DC, for AC they are in the middle of the engines.
