If memory serves, though painted in Maersk paint, the locomotive was gutted inside and thus unable to actually pull anything. Rather, it served as a kind of cab control car during the publicity shots, with the second unit back (a SD40-2) being the actual power for the train.

The locomotive was not gutted during the Maersk promotion. It was fully intact and fired right up after I got it in 2003, and made its first excursion trip in 2005.
