the rail are cleaner ;this abandoned line???

The rails are not abandon at this point - but there are no revenue operations. The museum train from the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum (a non-profit) in Campo will push their excursion train across this bridge and part way into the tunnel on weekends. The museum is about six track miles east of this gate.

i dont see security border check point in this area ;very easy to mexicans (see in google earth) .

There are agents watching this area 24/7. I chose to not include them in the photo because they prefer to not be photographed. When we arrived at this location about 45 minutes before the train came, they were in the process of arresting a group that had walked through the creek bottom. Moreover, your not going to get to this point on the map without them knowing your here. If you are like us, they leave you alone and sometimes stop for a chat. If you are up to no good, they will be on you like flies on the proverbial crap pile. The scene is rather deceiving, but your never alone out there.

El Roco, the story of this line always gets more interesting. I wonder what the Border Patrol requires of the excursion train-- passports, a ban on stepping off the train, a Border Agent on board?????
|
The museum train does not involve border agents because it never crosses the border. The presence of border patrol at this location is to intercept persons, vehicles and aircraft coming across in the Campo area. Were the PIR to open up cross border traffic, then Homeland Security would need to put in an inspection station to check the trains coming over and U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a different division of the border patrol than the guys who are currently patrolling the fence in Campo.
