A little strange seeing the ACe units going to storage with what looks like fresh paint. Usually it's the rougher units that go to storage. Anyone have more information on this move, or similar ones across the country?

People have been telling me UP is going to rebuild some of their dash 8s and 9s. Is that true? In the town I live in, the yard there has a string of C41-8Ws, C40-8Ws, C40-8s, C44-9Ws, SD60Ms, and SD60s.

I live near here and went out there the other day and they had a brand new Tier 4 Gevo, But anyway great capture!

Did you get some photos of the 150 plus units stored on the old alignment?

BaronMatt I talked to a Union Pacific dispatcher that works this part of the line and he said they are storing them out here because there are less trains running so they don't need the power.

Locomotive storage in prior years was an indicator of an economical slowdown or recession. When sales plummet, less materials and products are shipped.

It takes 6 live ones to pull 12 dead ones. Because of the weight, you need the Dynamic Braking available. Quite a sight to see out there. Just be respectful of RR Property.
