Wow, those locos have both obviously been to the wash rack since the storm. They are far cleaner than most of the Amtrak stuff I see in my neck of the woods!

Is double-heading these locomotives a common practice, or was this a power-move related to our storm? If my PR understanding is correct, these units have all the power they need for standard NEC trains. A very exciting catch!!

John - that would be my guess, at 8,600 hp, 6,700 continuous, they probably tacked the second unit on either as an engine move, or simply as a precaution due in part to the heavy snow fall along the Corridor. Perhaps the unit was laid over up north - Wednesday, the 27th, was the first full day of regular operations since Saturday's big storm.
