My memory could be completely wrong on this, but it seems that for just a few months there was a second pair of ICG freights into/out of Montgomery that - like the train pictured - were taken directly to L&N and dropped off w/o any breaking up at West End. Problems with likelihood of that memory being accurate - (1) the road engines always returned to West End running light, (2) never saw two sets of road power at West End at same time, and (3) never saw complete train headed from L&N to ICG. Have hoped for years that someone could provide answer as to whether there was a second pair of trains, or if ICG just sort of reconfigured how the daily Artesia pair was operated. Also have shot on RP of IC GP28 returning to West End via a detour over ex-SAL.
