Great catch Bill . These old photos are a great reminder of the way that railroads used to be,railroads and not corperations side business with no love for railfans and way to much security who think people are gonna steal a boxcar. I sure miss these people friendly eye soothing railroad scenes instead of every thing fenced off no trespass signs every 20 feet . I bet they even had a caboose on the rear end. All aboard, lets roll ! Shure do miss the BN green these days. Ill bet that tower was cozy on a snowy night with a fresh blanket of snow and the muffling effect snow has and the smell of fresh hot coffee when a switchman stopped in for a little while to warm his toes or blow his nose or back up next to the heater and warm up the ole backside before heading out in the snow again, or warming up their gloves on the heater. Ill bet there are some fond memories of those times in some of the older retired rail yard switch crews .
