This is a much more attractive livery than the current scheme on the VIA F40PH locomotives.

There was indeed a daily day train between Toronto and Chicago at this time, leaving each city early in the morning. The routing was via Windsor, ON, and Detroit. Unfortunately, the service was discontinued about 2001, if I recall correctly.

This was the International, which was a joint Amtrak/ Via Rail operation. The train didn't run to and from Canada via (ahem...) Detroit and Windsor but rather Port Huron and Sarnia over the Grand Trunk. Heading west, the train transferred to Conrail tracks at Battle Creek to Kalamazoo where it got onto Amtrak's ex-MC property down to Porter, Indiana. From there, it got back onto Conrail for the final leg into Chicago.
