Read somewhere recently he is or was a steam mechanic or as we say in the u.k. a steam fitter for the UP.

I did find this memorial page - http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=66946137 . It does mention that he worked for the Union Pacific at one time. Not sure if this is the same person or not.
