Since December 1st 2016, 20 of 29 Alstom Coradia Continental EMU's of the German Train Operator MitteldeutscheRegioBahn MRB were taken out of Service because serious problems at the Traction-Wheelsets of the 1440-Series EMU's, all of them are being inspected by the Constructor Alstom to solve the problem that is probably caused by the steep ramps that the EMU's have to climb between Tharandt and Freiberg.
MRB organized an Ad-Hoc concept trying to make the service as Reliable as possible on their lines (RE3 Dresden-Hof, RB30 Dresden-Zwickau and RB45 Elsterwerda-Chemnitz).
Although many trains got cancelled, the high frequented line RE3 seems to become stable.
The Operator "Press" provided in an remarkable short-term one locomotive and 5 heritage DR-passenger cars that were regular on that line about 30 years ago. Passengers could taste a bit of good old railway in regular service.
