Well, since I pointed out the date discrepancy I figured I'd better do some research.
The following website gives a short history of 6018 and shows it on a Los Angeles deadline just 8 months later. http://espee.railfan.net/spe-08.html
Another website indicates the reason why it (and the PA1's) were being set aside; SP's SDP45's were being manufactured between May and June 1967,
