These engines were indeed used on the York Canyon coal drag. They became the standard power for that train almost immediately. 6 Dash 8's would haul the train from York to Raton, then double the hill to Jansen. 2 Dash 8's would take the train farther east from Jansen. All Santa Fe Dash 9's & all BNSF Dash 9's were built the same augmented cab. This practice ended with BNSF's first GEVO purchases.
