I LIKE the CONCEPT, but it could be a bit of a trick to get the speed even on the left & right OR front & back drives, depending on how the gearing is set up. One would have to have 3 or 4 gears in reverse while the other remain "normal. I've HEARD that this is NOT too difficult with a 2-cycle engine, you just start it running with an opposite rotation. '

We once owned a Ford backhoe which had four speeds forward and four speeds for reverse. It went as fast forward in all ranges and as fast in reverse. Top speed in fourth gear forward or reverse was close to 22 MPH. It was hard to keep the front wheels on the ground in the forward high range as the weight of the backhoe kept the front wheels off the ground most of the time. The lower ranges were much safer at any speed. We then sold it two years ago.
