What a gloriously blue sky! Configuration of background buildings got me curious so I went looking on Google maps to find photo location. At time Google street view image was made there is some kind of construction happening around that grade crossing. Started looking through town. Apparently having a sidewalk sale, street fair, downtown. Or maybe tents and kiosks are normal summer activity, perhaps on a weekend? At 83 Sankt Laurentii Vej is store named "Boger og papir" wonder if it translates to something like House of Paper? Will have to check in Google Translate. Now, if only Scotty could beam me to that store ...

Things have changed in Skagen. Transport of freight by rail has ceased. The town itself is widely unchanged and to me as recognizable yesterday. Boger og papir means Books and baper. So it is a book shop and they sell also stuf for the office.

Aw, that's disappointing about rail service ceasing. But, looking at the map and how the town is a rather small seaport way out on the end of a narrow peninsula, rail service being discontinued is not astonishing.

It is quite a wonder that railservice have lasted very long. Shipping cargo by sea is in Denmark very easy. The country has many ports and a long coast line. On the other hand network fares have been raised and the most important railfreight company DB Schenker is more interested in long distance workings as in domestic services.
