Back in 1999 the IMRL would ship unit combine trains(both Deere and Case) to Chicago routed East Moline/Rock Island/Davenport/Savanna/Davis Jct/Chicago where they were handed over to the CSX for transportation to the east coast loaded onto a ship with the final destination being countries in Europe. This was a continuation of the unit train program started by Superintendent Joe Kramer and Trainmaster Steve Moerke on the CP before the sale to the Washington Companies(MRL). Sometime around 2005 the contract was lost to the BNSF for Deere and the Case plant was closed in East Moline. Today the only combines that come out of East Moline are John Deere and they ALL are trucked!
