My Dad grew up in Wichita Falls, on the Air Force Base there.
You would think that Santa Fe or BNSF would have put some money into fixing the track profile, this looks like a nightmare especially with long, heavy trains. That slack action kicking in and out has to suck.

Very neat perspective! Back in days when a caboose was attached to the rear of a train, just imagine the view the person watching the train had.

What's the ZOOM % on your camera for this shot ? Quite a stunning picture. ...But to what degree is it zoomed ? Thanks for posting this. A real eye opener on the perceived...and real operating challenges for the
hogheads on that division.

The photo was taken with a Nikon 600mm f4 EDIF lens on a D70 body. The effective focal length was 900mm. However, even with the naked eye, the roller-coaster track profile is clearly visible. This piece of railroad is ex-Fort Worth & Denver (Burlington).
