I am constantly amazed by stories and photos such as this one, that depict working steam operations (industrial, logging, etc.) that lingered long after the major railroads converted to diesels. I wonder what ever happened to this locomotive? This is a great catch....thanks for posting!

Railing on oil tank top is first I can recall seeing on a US locomotive.

According to TrainOrders, it ended up in Geneva, NE, where it appears to be rusting away, based on picture in www.steamlocomotive.info.

Welcome. Note strip at bottom to keep your toes from sliding off deck under railing, shortly to be followed by the rest of you. And note how it is set just above deck to allow for rain drainage. That setup can be seen on boats and on locomotives in other countries.
