Fantastic capture of the unique ACL CTC setup. Sad, but not unexpected, to hear that it's not long for this world. Thanks for sharing!

It's not really a unique ACL CTC setup. This is part of the ACL ABS signal system setup that dates to the 40's, most of these signal bridges were yanked out when the SCL converted the main from double track ABS to mostly single track TCS (CTC) in the 60's. A lot of these cantilevers were removed by the late 70's. A few in Lakeland were retained, it was the ONLY significant section of two-track TCS south of Jacksonville, Orlando had a large section of two-track ABS left for whatever reason until the mid 90's, but the signal bridges were removed in the 60's in favor of searchlight signal posts like the one in the foreground.

Thanks for the clarification, Troy. It's a unique setup either way, what with the dwarf/dummy mast combo and the brutish and obviously hurricane-proof cantilevers. Way more interesting than most of what's left out on class 1 mainlines these days.

Thanks Chris! I'll have one more shot at these soon, but they already have replacements standing.
