GREAT angle to have this photo from.

The number board on the conductor's side is pretty funky. The "6" is an upside down, "9" and the two "8"s are upside down also.

One of the best diamond shots ever.

This one really exemplifies railroading. I can't help but to imagine the smell of the grease, creosote, and exhaust, the whine of the traction motors, the roar of the prime movers, the hard rattles over the diamond, and not to mention the multiple F-unit ghosts of the Chicago Great Western that would smoke up the bore on their way up and out of the Mississippi River valley.

Wild shot at a classic location. Never realized until just now, despite being there once before, that the tracks crossing the main are from the main, branching off and tunneling under less than 2,500 feet south.

Ha! If someone saw that on a model railroad it would be proclaimed as being unrealistic! Great photo.

For a really interesting view of this crossing, looking west from the tunnel when there was a West Cabin in this scene, check out this post card photo at North American Interlockings: https://northamericaninterlockings.com/images/westcabinILshapotkin.jpg?894

So, BN 6808 looks like he wants to but just can't turn on his blinker and and make a sharp turn to the right. It's fun to dream about it.
